If you had read my MooGoo review (which you can read here), you would know that last month I attended an intimate luncheon for MooGoo/Dusty Girls at Porch & Parlour Cafe in North Bondi. This is the first time I have seen and played with this brand.
As well as an introduction to Dusty Girls Makeup, we were given the opportunity to be hands-on with the range, watch a makeup tutorial as well as ask questions about the products.
With a selection of products to take home, I was excited to get started.
Mineral Bronzer in Sunshine - RRP $24
I haven't come across a natural bronzer that I liked until now. With some mineral brands I had tried, have either been to minerally and sparkly or very pigmented and not very blendable, making it a challenge to achieve a natural finish. Also with areas of my face is drier that other parts I found mineral bronzer can be drying at times.
This bronzer gives me the perfect bronzed look with a subtle hint of shimmer. It isn’t highly pigmented, it glides over my skin easily and evenly, leaving no patches. This bronzer is buildable so you can achieve any level of colour you want. For a smooth and even application it's best use a kabuki brush when applying bronzer.
Mineral Foundation Powder - RRP $28
I tend to shy away from powder foundations only because my skin is more on the dry side, but have been pleasantly surprised after applying it. It didn’t look cakey on my skin, and wasn’t super drying. I found the best method for me is to use a kabuki brush, and tap some product into the lid and swirl my brush in there.
The foundation comes in a dispense controlled tub. It is lightweight and filler free, meaning you can get a natural coverage without the silicone , talc and UV filters, just to name a few. Comes in 7 blendable shades, with each shade of fair, medium and dark, available in neutral tones.
Earth Cream Tinted Moisturiser - RRP $20
This multi-tasking product is perfect for acne prone skin and sensitive skin types. It acts as a primer, sun block, concealer and moisturiser as well as providing good skin coverage.
It's super light creamy texture is clay based and contains natural moisturising oils and ingredients to ensure your skin stays looking healthy even after the makeup comes off.
These ingredients all have healing properties - Nigella Sativa Oil and Manuka Tree Leaf Oil for acne prone skin, Magnolia Acuminata Extract for soothing and Chaulmoogra Tree Seed Oil for skin repair.
I found that this product works extremely well The cream is super hydrating and skin is left supple and soft with no evidence of dehydration. I am unsure how this will perform in summer as my skin is oilier in the warmer weather. This may be a little too moisturising but I will not know until then. But I'm currently loving it at the moment.
Comes in two shades - Light and Medium.
This clear gloss has a subtle shimmer. It goes on thin and moisturises with no stickiness. It contains a blend of natural, moisturising ingredients such as Shea Butter and Watermelon Seed Oil to keep your lips hydrated and smooth. There is no particular smell or taste.
This gloss can be used on it's own or over a matte or creamy lipstick to add some dimension. I've been using this gloss for a few weeks and found it to be extremely comfortable to wear and my hair doesn't stick to my lips! Comes in two shades.
Vegan Lipsticks (Shade: Chia Seeds) - RRP $19
These lipsticks are made using a blend of micas for a highly pigmented and vibrant colour, alongside edible ingredients such as Jojoba Oil, Shea Butter and Vitamin E. The packaging is made from cardboard making it lightweight and recyclable.
The lip colour is really pretty containing red and brown hues which would be suitable for all skin colour. It leave lips feeling soft and is buildable. It can be worn as a light tint on the lips or reapply for a more pigmented finish. The Vegan lipstick comes in six shades.
Mineral Eye Shadows - RRP $15
These eye shadows contains highly pigmented blend of micas for long-lasting colour, along with natural ingredients such a Jojoba Oil and Natural Vitamin E, for an easy application and a smooth, flawless finish.
Dark Cacao is a rich shade of mahogany that has been pressed and lightly frosted with a blend of pink and gold micas, making it a versatile colour that is suitable for all skin tones. This colour is absolutely stunning on, definitely different depth of richness when on the eyes. A shade I definitely haven't seen before and love.
Going Buff is a velvety smooth cream shade that has been pressed with a blend of soft pink and subtle golden pigments to lift and enhance the appearance of your eyes. Perfect as a base application. The shimmer is so subtle, I say it is more of a matte eye shadow with a hint of glow.
Overall I’m really impressed with all the products from Dusty Girls. They all feel really nice on the skin and the quality is definitely there. Price point, they are really good value for money.
