We are big avocado eaters and consume at least one avo a day. Before using this new tool I was like anyone else. Slicing my avocado with a knife ending up with ugly slices of avocado and making a good ol' mess.

There’s more than one way to skin an avocado, but only one tool that cuts, de-pits, scoops, slices, and mashes. This multi-tasking utensil is called the Avo Shark and was engineered by Australian Paul English to handle every step of avocado prep safely and effortlessly.

The Avo Shark is compact and fits in any drawer.  It comes with a  protective sheath to cover the blade and is dishwasher safe.

The outside blade is used for cutting the avocado in half.

As well as slicing.

Turn the Avo Shark around and use the scoop for removing avocado flesh from the shell.  The scoop has been cleverly designed to suit avocados of all shapes and sizes.

To de-pip, grip the top "teeth" into the top of the pip, then push the pip removal slide forward to grip bottom "teeth" firmly into the bottom of the pip.  Now simply lift the pip out.

Holy moley, I made guacamole! You can mash your avo with the scoop end.  The masher and blade are elevated to prevent mess on the counter.  It cuts my time in half when preparing for dips.

I love my kitchen gadgets especially when they make my life easier at home. The Avo Shark is so easy to use as well as safe for all age. My son loves de-pipping but hasn't mastered the scooping yet!

The Avo Shark retails for $14.95 is available at major retails stores including Myer.  For stockists visit http://vgminternational.com.au

My family and I have made lots of lifestyle changes this year. From increasing our physical activities to having a clearer mindset as well as changing the way we eat.
Being stuck in a rut is very easy to be in without knowing you are in one. We weren't short of positive words and ideas of what we should do but very little was put into action. I had to take a step back and re-evaluate our lives and realised that something needed to change otherwise my son will adopt our bad habits for the rest of his life.

We started with more physical activities, being outdoors. Setting goals and achieving them, being positive and clearing out the clutter in our lives, negativity and living simpler.

Changes have also been made to our diets. More fresh food, home cooking and less takeout. This was my biggest challenge as working full-time and looking after a family is exhausting, making ordering takeout very appealing. Sometimes to prepare healthy meals can take time and us mums lack time.

So when I saw a demonstration of the 'Boss Go To' from Breville at the Kids Business Bloggers Brunch, I became excited at the endless possibilities of what can be created with just one appliance.

The Super Personal Blender uses a powerful 1000 watt motor and Breville's Kinetix blending action to blend up to 42% finer which increases absorption of nutrients and creates a smoother mouth feel.

It took me a good month before I opened the box and gave the Boss a go. I was feeling rather intimidated by it and to buy a litre of freshly squeeze juice from the local Top Juice seems far more appealing. But I realised I had to get outside of my comfort zone and attempt to create my own.

I have to admit it looked pretty good in my new almost completed kitchen. There it sat for another week before I braved the shops, stocked up on all the ingredients to attempt and make my first smoothie.

I chopped up the ingredients and added water.  I also added a teaspoon of superfood greens by Blackmores.

I attached the base with contains the blade.

With a turn to the left the blender was off doing its thing.

The results? An almost perfect green smoothie. It tasted amazing but it was very thick with bits. I worked out that the green apples had an abnormally thick skin that was even almost impossible to break down with my teeth. Second attempt after peeling the skin, the smoothie was perfect.

I found that it was better using red apples as the skin blended better.

Feeling really motivated, I made my son a super healthy smoothie each day after school. Super easy. Scoop of coconut milk ice cream, yoghurt, milk and a teaspoon of Blackmores cacao.

30 seconds later, the smoothie was done!

The days that I haven't been able to do a smoothie, my son has expressed his ultimate disappointment. But on an occasion like this he loves it.

So whether it’s a deliciously creamy smoothie or a super green juice the Boss helps you prepare what you need. We all know that the healthiest of food is often made with tough ingredients but with the right tools, tough can be made smooth.

What you get with the Boss To Go
The unit comes with two 500ml tumblers plus a larger 700ml one, all with travel lids for drinking on the go. It also comes with a stainless steel mill so you can make your own flour & break down nuts & seeds as well as a recipe book to get started.

All the components fit into the base unit very easily and all you need to do is lock the container in and move it to the left to operate.

Last week I attended the Australian launch of Atkinsons of London. We were treated to delicious canapes along with an introduction to the Atkinsons brand and history behind it.

Atkinsons of London is a 200-year-old fragrance house epitomising English eccentricity, style and impeccable manners. Founded in 1799 by James Atkinson, the perfume house is steeped in royalty – with Atkinsons proclaimed the official perfumer to the Royal Court of England in 1826.

With an elaborate display of old English elegance, I felt like I walked into a whimsical fantasy land with the wonderful Mr Bear dressed impeccably in a suit.

We were taken through the story behind each fragrance collection.

The Emblematic Collection

The Legendary Collection

The Contemporary Collection

and, The Oud Collection.

Many of the perfumes that were created for royalty including Napoleon, the Duke of Wellington, Admiral Nelson, Lady Hamilton, Prince Tomasi Di Lampedusa, Queen Margherita di Savoia, and the Tsarina of Russia.

Atkinsons of London will be launching in David Jones in July.  To find out more about their range visit their website at www.atkinsons1799.com.

I attended as a media guest.

The Body Shop’s new Drops of Light range is the next exciting release since the Oils of Life range.

With each Body Shop release, we are seeing more and more nods to Korean skincare trends. The Body Shop has released a range of products that is designed to lighten and leave skin looking translucent. Enriched with red algae and Vitamin C it helps skin appear brighter and more luminous. Red algae an anti-ageing, anti-inflammatory ingredient boosts the skins circulation and Vitamin C to brighten the complexion improve collagen levels.

The name really reflects on the packaging, which I love. The Essence Lotion comes in a white opaque squeezable plastic bottle, making it really easy to use.

The Brightening Serum comes in a little white opaque bottle coupled with a dropper style dispenser.

Pure Translucency Essence Lotion
The Pure Translucency Essence Lotion is a gel to water formula preparing and activating the skin for the next steps of your skincare regime. It penetrates into the skin to deliver light hydration. Simply apply a few drops onto a cotton pad, and apply to your face, much in the same way as you would use a toner. This pure translucency lotion is gentle on the skin and can be used morning and evening on cleansed skin.

The lotion assists in enhancing translucency, brightness and an even skin tone, making skin appear brighter and healthier, while skin texture is smooth, refined and plumped with moisture. It also assists in fading hyper-pigmentation skin, uneven skin tone, dark spots and scarring all with a silky soft texture that is quickly absorbed by the skin. There is no greasy residue.

Pure Healthy Brightening Serum
Serums are probably the only beauty product I will lash out money on. Regardless of the cost I will always purchase new serums. I believe it is super important to have a highly effective serum as it penetrates deeper than a moisturiser.

This Pure Healthy Brightening Serum is a lightweight, fast‑absorbing, non‑sticky serum. It glides effortlessly and absorbs instantly into the skin. Massage one or two drops into the skin and gently pat all over the face.

The serum assists in brightening the skin as well as making skin feel supple and hydrated. After four weeks, skin imperfections and yellowness are reduced, pores are minimised and skin looks brighter and more translucent. I have only been using the product for two weeks and I have already noticed a difference in my skin. To benefit in minimised pores and reduced imperfection I will need to continue using this product for a longer period.

As I have no doubt that these work really well, results do take time and with the results I have already seen on my skin I'm excited to see my skin's progress over the next month.  The Body Shop hasn't disappointed me yet!

Products available in the Drops of Light range.

Clarifying Foam Wash - $22.95
Pure Translucency Lotion - $32.95
Brightening Serum - $49.95
Brightening Day Cream - $42.95

What's your favourite serum?  Have you used brightening products before, if so let me know what your using.

The Body Shop Drops of Light Range is available online at and in stores Australia-wide.  For store location visit their website here

Being a busy mum and always on the go, I sometimes find it a challenge to maintain my mani let along an immaculate one! 6 times out of 10 when I paint my nails, they are usually ruined within the first hour because I forget that I did them and delve my hand into a box or my handbag and then my mani is ruined.

This is where my love for stick-on nail wraps begins! I remember purchasing my first set at Priceline a couple of years ago. Even though they were thick and hard to file I still loved them.

Nail wraps have come a long way since then, becoming thinner and looking more like nail art than stickers as well as staying on longer.

Jamberry nail wraps was created by three sisters from the US and launched 2010. It has grown to become a household name in just five years and are available all over globe.  They are made from durable materials, and can last up to 2 weeks on the fingernails and four weeks on toes.

Jamberry nail wraps look very similar to a sheet of stickers. They are a flexible wrap that covers existing nails. With Jamberry nail wraps there is a little more work to get them on than the ordinary peel and stick ones but it worth it in the end!

So, here is what you will need to get you started.

Applying Jamberry Wraps
  1. Remove excess oil and moisture from nails and nail bed with nail polish remover. You can use Jamberry Nail prep wipes if you prefer.
  2. Choose the size for each digit before peeling them off the sheet.
  3. Heat the nail wrap with the hairdryer on warm with a blow-dryer for 3-5 seconds or until soft and flexible and ready to peel off the sheet.
  4. Press wrap onto the nail and apply firm pressure especially around edges to ensure it adheres to the nail. With the cuticle pusher, gently glide over the wrap to seal it around the base of the cuticle.  You can use your finger if you prefer.
  5. Trim any excess material and file off remaining wrap using a downward motion to finish application.
While the stickers are oval shaped to fit most nail beds, there are likely to be some spaces on the side where the Jamberry doesn’t quite cover, so make sure you pick the best size for each nail.

We all have one hand that doesn't always look as good as the other.  With practice each application will get better and better!

Removing Jamberry Wraps

Heat the wraps with a blow-dryer for 15 seconds. Then break the seal by getting under the edge of the wrap with your opposite thumbnail. Slowly peel the wrap from side to side. If the nail wraps are not peeling easily or the adhesive is still bonded to the nail bed, then follow the Gentle Removal Process.

Soak the nail wraps in nail polish remover for 20-30 seconds and gently rub them off. Soaking will break down the adhesive bond and allow them to easily slide off the nail bed.

I highly recommend watching the How-to videos before applying your wraps.  Sometimes visualising is better than imaging what should be done as everyone interprets instructions differently.

Jamberry have over 300 nail wrap designs that you can choose from. Prices are only $22 and are available online at jamberrynails.com.au or through a Jamberry independent consultant.

Moisturising your body after a shower is important to ensure your skin doesn't become dry, itchy and flaky especially in winter. Jergens Shea Butter Body Moisturiser is one that is definitely worth the try. It's cheap and very effective and smells great.

This lotion comes in a squeezable bottle packaging with a flip top cap. I like the size, it's slim and fits nicely in my hand as I'm not fond of extra large heavy bottles of body moisturisers as I'm pretty clumsy and always drop them with either product going everywhere or the lid cracks.

The fragrance smells like a lighter version of Palmer's Cocoa butter which is great as I find Palmer's quite overpowering. Cocoa is the dominant fragrance as well as some other fragrances mixed. The fragrance does not have long-lasting power and it fades pretty quickly.

Jergens Shea Butter Body Moisturiser has a creamy texture just like body butters but is much quicker to get completely absorbed. It deeply conditions dry, dull skin. Restores skin's luminosity and enhances sheen. It contains a unique illuminating hydralucence blend and pure African Shea butter, Mango Seed butter and Caramel.

I found this body moisturiser quite pleasant to use. After showering each morning, I applied the body moisturiser and my skin stayed soft and moisturised for at least most of my working day. By the time I get home I do notice some dryness on my legs again but not as intense as it was prior to using the body moisturiser.

Jergens have 7 body moisturisers in their range and comes in two sizes, 250ml RRP $6.99 and 400ml RRP $8.99.

Did you Know?

Jergens Skincare is pledging a donation to the Global Shea Alliance to support the empowerment of women in West Africa as part of our ongoing celebration of women's radiance. The Global Shea Alliance is a non-profit association that seeks to empower the more than 16 million women who collect and process shea nuts across Africa.

Known as "Women's Gold", Shea Butter is more than a centuries-old beauty secret for skin. It is sourced exclusively from Africa and provides income to women during the Shea harvest and production season. Every ounce of pure African Shea Butter used in JERGENS® Shea Butter Moisturisers directly impacts these women, helping enrich their livelihoods.

Paw paw balms are extremely popular in Australia. So if your not obsessed with them, then you should be. Paw Paw ointments is my family's current fave product. It is a multi-purpose all rounder product that is great for almost everything.

There’s lots of evidence to suggest that paw paw has all sorts of different therapeutic properties for inside the body and out. It’s beneficial for ulcers, eczema and other skin irritations as well a rich source of antioxidants that the body needs to fight against cancer-causing cells. Vitamin C, E and beta-carotene's are antioxidants that prevent all kinds of cancers.

With so many currently on the market it can be difficult to know which one to select as there are big differences between brands.

Pure Paw Paw Ointment is perfect for kids. With its cartoon faces on each tube to represent the flavour it's hard to resist the fun packaging.

My son absolutely loves this paw paw ointment. He's a lips licker and throughout Winter his lips are constantly cracked and occasionally bleed.  He keeps his paw paw ointment in his school bag and uses it throughout the day to prevent his lips from bleeding and occasionally applying it to his cheeks when they feel itchy to provide a moisture barrier.

Even though these ointments are flavoured, its very subtle, it is more of a scent you can smell not taste.

These retail for $5.95.  Super cheap that you are able to keep one in the car, handbag and school bag for kids.

This picture is about Antipodes grapeseed butter cleanser

I have never used a butter cleanser before and just by the name it sounds like something someone with very dry skin would you, but this isn't so.

This cleanser is a deeply cleansing and highly antioxidising cleanser that leaves your skin looking super clean and fresh. Enriched with revolutionary antioxidant Vinanza Grape and hibiscus flower to gently lift off lifeless skin.

Grapeseed Butter Cleanser is suitable for most skin types, especially oil prone skin, as pure plant oils help balance and regulate your own oil production.

With an enchanting blend of nourishing cocoa butter, soothing olive and antibacterial harekeke oils as well as Vinanza Grape extract, a revolutionary antioxidant from New Zealand's sauvignon blanc grape seeds which helps repair free radical damage. Soothing lavender and blue chamomile to help calm sensitive skin, while Hibiscus flower brings gentle exfoliating action.

This picture is about Antipodes grapeseed butter cleanser

The cleanser is yellow in colour. It reminds me of beeswax. It smells amazing and is not overwhelming, it is actually quite comforting to smell.  It comes with a spatula to make it easier to scoop out of the tub.

Antipodes Grapeseed Butter Cleanser is a solid butter that you rub onto skin. Your natural body warmth melts the product and turns it into an oil cleanser. You have to firstly understand that this cleansing balm is quite unlike your regular cleanser. It takes a little more effort and a little more work. But it is worth it.

This picture is about Antipodes grapeseed butter cleanser

Make sure you use the spatula to remove cleanser from the jar, it can get quite messy otherwise. Using dry hands gently massage in a circular motion into your face, neck and decolletage, removing impurities and softening skin. Rinse off with warm water.  Antipodes Grapeseed Butter Cleanser will leave your complexion feeling deeply cleansed without feeling tight or stripped. The best part is that all Antipodes products are certified organic and 100% cruelty free!

Antipodes Grapeseed Butter Cleanser RRP $46.00. Antipodes products are available at all Priceline stores as well as on their website.

I recently attended an event with The Look Good Feel Better make-up brush launch which was held at The Pavilion in Hyde Park.

The Look Good Feel Better Foundation have collaborated with KeySun Laboratories to launch their new range of professional quality brushes.  Workstations with makeup artists were scattered for guests to play with the brushes as well as ask questions.

With emotional but inspirational speeches from Kerri-Ann Kennerly and Alex (cancer survivors), it was really hard to hold back the tears.

Look Good Feel Better organisation offers free information and workshops to help anyone undergoing treatment for any sort of cancer to better cope with the physical side effects of cancer treatment. It was founded in 1990 and receives no Government funding and relies on the support of the cosmetic industry and community goodwill to carry out its work.

The workshops educate and assist many patients about skincare techniques, make-up tips and advice on head wear that includes scarf styling and wig selection. Having an aunt and cousin who went through chemo and have lost their hair, I knew how important these workshops are to your self-esteem and self-worth. Without these workshops I really do believe my family members would of given up hope but these workshops make you understand that you are not alone and that there is a light at the end of that dark tunnel.

There are more than 125,000 Australian women, men and teens who participate in the Look Good Feel Better program which now offers about 1,000 workshops in more than 180 venues nationwide.

KeySun will be donating 15% from the sale of each brush and set to the organisation, enabling the program to help the anticipated 10,000 Australian women, men and teens so they can attend the workshops this year.

The range consists of 12 high quality professional brushes. With sleek black handles, each precision cut brush head has been hand-made using super soft bristles, a special polyester derivative free of any protein component; making them allergy-free, environmentally friendly and well as suitable for sensitive skin.

The Makeover Brush Set retails for $44.99 - Set includes four brushes and a protective pouch. Brushes included are Powder brush, Finishing Brush, Tapered Blending Brush and Detail Brush.
