I love shoes, I love high heels, well that was before I had my son that is. During the pre-mum years I had an obsession with beautiful shoes regardless whether they were comfortable or not, I was able to tolerate ill-fitting shoes and sacrificed my bunions for style.

After having my son I struggled to find comfortable shoes that were stylish and didn't look like something my gran would wear!

Last week I had a sneak peek at the Frankie4 Spring/Summer 2015 shoe collection which was held in Surry Hills.

Frankie4 was established in 2010 by Brisbane Physiotherapist and Podiatrist Caroline McCulloch. It was the day one of Caroline's patients cried in the consultation room when she prescribed a 'comfort' shoe as part of her treatment that Caroline realised that looking and feeling good was incredibly important to many women.  I know the feeling I've been there done that.

Frankie4 shoes are not just about style but also comfort. I was quite surprised how stylish the collections was! There were at least three dozen pairs of shoes in the collection and to choose a favourite was almost impossible. What was even more surprising is how much nicer they look on the feet than they did on display.

This is the pair that I picked as my favourite.  The straps covered the bunion at the right place giving me comfort.  They have adjustable straps for those hot days when your feet swell.

These walking shoes were really comfy and I like them on my feet.  They come with two pairs of shoe laces if you want to change things a bit.

Trying on shoes is thirsty work, luckily the girls were equipped with organic juice and yummy protein balls to keep our energy up.

Frankie4 footwear is designed to improve body mechanics and increase comfort with every step all within stylish designs.

Frankie4 features include: the functional footbed which offers support and comfort from heel to toe, patented Custom Fit system which enables everyone to get a perfect fit, an asymmetrical shape to accommodate and complement the foot's natural movement and the range also offers arthotic friendly options.

The collections offers a range of flats, boots, heels, sandals and ballet flats in a range of colours as well.

Check out Frankie4's website for the entire collection and stockists.

I've been obsessed with Lancôme Miracle Cushion since I purchased it a couple of months ago. When it was first released I was intrigued on its application, a new way of applying foundation.

I love compacts, I've never been a fan of bottle foundation as I have always struggled with them, the pump bottles aren't so bad but compacts are more practical and easier to carry around.

The packaging is lightweight and easy to open and use. Inside the case is a mirror and an applicator pad, plus a hinged cap that creates an airtight seal over the sponge and provides a nice resting spot for the applicator.

This is what the compact looks like on the inside.

The Lancôme Miracle Cushion compact is refillable. When pressing the pad into the foundation sponge, just the right amount of foundation is absorbed on the pad making it easy to apply. There are no accidental spills, drips or over applying.

The coverage is quite sheer and light. What is fab about Miracle cushion is that you can keep applying to build more coverage. You control the coverage level. During the day I want a light coverage so I apply it once all over but my cheeks need a little more coverage so I apply a second coat without it being noticeable. The results is a fresh dewy complexion with all imperfections becoming almost invisible.

Two coats of foundation

One coat of foundation

It has SPF of 23+ which is great as I don't have to apply a separate application of sunblock.

There are two factors that disappoint me with this product. Firstly, the sponge, I like to wash my sponges to prevent contamination of the product and the skin. The applicator is very difficult to clean.  The photo below is after applicator is washed. It looks yucky.

Secondly being Lancôme, a reputable brand, known to use quality ingredients and being manufactured in either Europe or the US. The Miracle Cushion is actually made in Korea. Retailing for $60.00, it's a bit pricey considering where it is made. I'm quite surprised Lancôme chose to manufacture it there.

A few weeks back I was sent some products from Wonderstripes for consideration. Intrigued as usual with new products that hit Australia, I've never really come across anything like it.

Wonderstripes was started in Germany 2 years ago. With huge success it has now been brought to Australia and the wider pacific region for us to enjoy.

There were three products in the pack. Hyaluron Moisturising Booster Mask, Facial Tonic and the celeb obsessed beauty secret, The Instant Eye Lift tapes.

First product I tried was the Mask.  The Hyaluron Moisturising Booster Mask is an anti-ageing face mask that brightens tired skin. The formula contains aloe vera to soothe, hyaluronic acid to reduce wrinkles and collagen to plump skin.

The mask works to minimise fine lines and lift skin while deeply moisturising it.

Before applying the mask thoroughly cleanse the skin.   Open the pack carefully.

Unfold the white mesh. Then unfold and remove the blue protective film on both sides of the mask. The mask is thin and silicone like. It's a bit fiddly but once its on the face it stays there, which is great as I'm not one to lay down for 15 - 20 minutes and relax especially when kids are involved!

Yes, that's me with bad hair at the end of a working day and chasing an 8 year old boy!  Looking frazzled by 9 is the norm.  I like the large holes for the eyes, I've trialled so many masks and I always find them too small around the eyes.

Once I removed the mask I rubbed any remaining serum into my skin.  My skin felt soft and supple and noticeably plump.  My skin appeared fresher and smoother after application.

The hyaluronic anti-ageing booster mask is made of Bio-Cellulose, with the powerful tri-action of Hyaluronic Acid, Collagen and Aloe Vera to instantly plump fine lines and invigorates the skin for an instant lifting effect.

I really liked the hyaluronic mask. The results lasted for two days.  It is recommended to use the mask 1-2 times a week.

The Instant Eye Lift tapes
Fortunately for me I don't suffer from saggy eye lids. I did play with them though, it was fun. Unfortunately I didn't have a guinea pig to test these on as I don't know anyone with saggy eye lids so I have provided a how-to video (taken from the Wonderstripes website) with before and after results on the Instant Eye Life tapes.

WONDERSTRIPES are available in 3 different sizes: S, M & L. Every pack includes 64 or 84 tapes.
One month supply costs AUS $27.

The Facial Tonic
This product is pretty good.  I love the cucumber scent on my skin. After I cleansed my skin, I squeeze the tonic on a cotton pad and applied it on my face. The ultra hydrating facial tonic is enriched with cucumber extract and D-panthenol to help tone and invigorate the skin.  The toner is not only gentle for the skin, it is also suitable for the eye area.

Retails $30

The tonic is free from preservatives, artificial colours, synthetic fragrances, mineral oils, amines and silicones.

Wonderstripes products are affordable. If you are like me, non-invasive treatments to achieve youthful appearance is the way to go.

I would love to know if anyone would love to give the eye lift tapes a try.  I'm willing to post them out to anyone, who in return will do a guest post for me.

Wonderstripes are available for purchase online at  There are tutorials, imagery and even a blog all dedicated to the products.

I recently purchased the Cooling Mask from Dermalogica.  I've read good reviews about this product and wanted to give it a go as my skin has been irritated lately especially on my cheeks with my rosacea playing up.

The masque is a blue gel with a somewhat mild antiseptic scent. It is formulated to soothe irritations, cool and clear the skin. It contains plant and fruit extracts including liquorice extract for its soothing properties. The masque helps to reduce redness and clear breakouts while a cooling sensation refreshes and soothes.

This is what the gel looks like

Smearing the cooling masque all over my face including the neck line, my skin began to tingle, in a good calming way. After ten minutes I washed the masque and my skin felt cool and fresh.

The redness had settled and irritation around the chin area subside,. I have only tried it once and I like this masque. As my skin occasionally does play up due to a combination of environmental factors, air conditioning, stress, exhaustion etc. I will be using this more regularly to see how my skin fairs.

I love admiring peoples hair colour especially in bright colours like pink, purple or even blue. I've only dyed my hair a funky colour in my life twice, only to have short-lived fun hair with long-lasting damage.

The difference between salon colour dyes and DARE is it acts as a ‘stain’ on the hair-shaft without the need to pre-lighten your hair.  Whether you have pre-lightened or natural hair colour you are able to achieve a daring new look in just a few simple steps. Colour lasts up to 30 washes too!

I really was eager to try this but as I was starting a new job, I wasn't sure how it would look if I started a new role with blue hair!  So I compromised by only colouring the hair underneath which is how I had it before due to my previous role being corporate.

The two colours I requested were No. 11 Dolphin Dreams & No.13 Mermaid Music.

I first tried No. 11, it has slightly lighter blue with a tinge of green. No 13 is a darker shade of blue which gave my hair a dark blue tone which looked great and was my favourite.

I have to admit I found it difficult to apply without making a mess.  I had blue splattered on the shower screen, bathmat and sink.  I've always struggled doing my own hair colour making a right ol' mess.

My second time I attempted it I had a bit of help from the hubby.  I also purchased a colour brush to help application to be more precise.  My hair is already pre-lighten due experimenting with colour so I was quite surprised how well the colour took.

Please bare in mind as these colours are highly pigmented they will stain your hands so make sure you are wearing gloves and old clothing.  You must following the instructions to achieve the best results.

DARE temporary hair colours provide fast, fun, fashion-forward colours designed for the young at heart.  DARE colours work best on fair and pre-lightened hair. Brunettes need not despair because deeper shades create a haloed gloss of colour across mid to light brown shades.

Colours RRP $19.95
The range of temporary hair colour will be available exclusively at all Hairhouse Warehouse stores and online.

Don’t forget to follow DARE Hair and DARE Nails on InstagramPinterest and Tumblr

Have you ever dared to colour your hair in any of the above colours?  If so I would love to see some photos.

I love painting my nails.  I have such an extensive nail polish collection that I would put Priceline to shame! I tend to paint my nails more in the colder season with brighter colours because we tend to dress in darker clothing during Winter. Painting my nails lifts my spirits, making me feel good about myself and smile when I look at my hands.

My nails do need extra TLC during Winter, but with the lack of time we have today we all need products that are multi-purpose to help us time-poor peeps.

This is where Revitanail Triple Strength Nail Polish  is great, it strengthens, protects and hydrates nails. Enriched with three key strengthening ingredients: Keratin, Bamboo and Calcium.  What's even better it's free from Formaldehyde, Toluene and Dibutyl Phthalate (DBP).

My two favourite colours for this season are Pomegranate and Marshmallow.

This is Marshmallow, a sheer milky pink. Versatile, perfect for all occasions, apply one coat for a soft subtle look or layer for a colour block look.  I've only applied one coat for a softer look.  The formula is thick and smooth. Streak-free covering all nail imperfections. This lasted on my nails without chipping for four days.

I normally apply 2-3 coats of nail colour with other brands. I could do with a second coat to intensify the colour but I liked the way it looked with one coat.

This is Pomegranate, this would have to be my favourite colour.  I'm not a big red fan but this is like a pinky red. Very flattering on the skin and nails.  It's bold and bright perfect to brighten up any day.

I have only applied one coat and was very pleased with the result.  Streak-free, smooth quality.

I normally don't compare nail polish brands but I would have to say that Revitanail is far easier to get a great result in nail painting than some of the more expensive brands.

TIPS on how to get the most out of your Triple Strength
  • Apply two coats directly on your nails and allow each coat to dry
  • Apply Revitanail 3D Top Coat to give your nails a perfect gel-like finish
  • Wait 1-2 minutes and apply 1-2 drops of Revitanail Instant Dry Drops for a quick dry time
  • Enhance nail health, massage Revitanail Keratin Strengthening Serum over the top coat and on your cuticles, two to three times a day for strong and nourished nails

Available in five on-trend shades, the range provides superior care and vibrant colour in one simple beautifying stroke.

RRP $14.95

These gorgeous colours will take you through the icy Winter season right through to sunshiny Spring and Summer.

Revitanail products are available at Priceline, Coles, Woolworths and selected pharmacies.
