The annual Vogue Fashion Night Out (VFNO) was on again. The 5 September in Sydney.

This one-night shopping event was filled with exclusive shopping offers, live entertainment, fashion shows and VIP parties.  

This year Chanel created a limited edition nail polish shades as part of the Nuit Magique collection.

‘Magic’, a rich, but classic blue and the other, 'Cosmic’, a deep black with silver and blue flecks.

I was a little disappointed with the nail polish Magic.  It bares a resemblance to Blue Rebel from 2011 Blue Jean Collection, also released during the VFNO 2011.

As you can see from the image above there is only a slight variation in the blue's hue.  Below is a photo of the colours on one nail, side by side.

A little disappointed that an original colour was not add to this collection, but nonetheless I purchased it anyway.


The Chanel Rouge Allure Moiré Collection for Fall 2013 includes two Chanel Le Vernis in beautiful, pearlescent shades. 

Rose Moire  & Rouge Moire
I purchased these two in August to add to my every growing collection of nail varnishes. These shades are absolutely stunning; Rose Moiré, a silvery rose gold, and Rouge Moiré, a cranberry red. Both have a metallic finish with a beautiful light-reflecting effect. 

I also purchased Les 4 Ombres, Quad eye shadow palette.  No 41 Fascination, consists of three blue shades along with a complimentary highlight in grey.

I'm not normally a fan of quads, I usually purchase the individual colours but I love all the four colours on this palette.  They compliment my eyes and skin and can all be worn on their own or blended in.  The Chanel consultant did a smokey eyes look which was more stunning than using black or brown.

HydroPeptide Cleanse Anti-Wrinkle Exfoliating Cleanser Review

HydroPeptide Cleanse Anti-Wrinkle Exfoliating Cleanser is a daily face wash for all skin types. With its lovely citrus scent along with chamomile, ginseng and green tea, leaving skin feeling clean and refreshed. 

The gel is a medium consistency, hydrating cleanser that contains exfoliating jojoba beads to activate cell turnover and improve skin tone over time.  It is recommended to massage in small circular motions for 30-60 seconds. This allows the key ingredients to start working. It aims to remove dead skin cells, cleanse away dirt and sebum, refresh the skin, and improve overall tone. 

Glycolic Acid is a core ingredient found in HydroPeptide Cleanse Anti-Wrinkle Exfoliating Cleanser. Soy Protein is also found in this face wash which helps by toning the skin and increasing its density. Glycerin is a moisturising ingredient which helps prevent skin dryness each time you are washing your face.

I loved using this cleanser.  My skin felt clean without it being stripped of its oils.  I found that my moisturiser and make-up sat better on my skin after using HydroPeptide Cleanse.  Over the last couple of weeks of using the cleanser, I found my skin radiant and smoother.  It is good value for money and a 200ml bottle should easily last several months.  I have even cleansed my make-up brushes with it as it is an effective exfoliant and removes all residue of product build-up without any stress to the brushes.

Neutrogena Men Skin Clearing Shave Cream Review

Neutrogena is renowned for their quality products for all ages.  A brand that has been around for decades has now introduced a Men's range. Hooray!

I received two products, Neutrogena Men Skin Clearing Shave Cream and Neutrogena Men Triple Protect Face Lotion (you can read the review here).

Hubby loves when new brands come out, he isn't afraid to try and compare products if he knows its for the better.  I wish he was just as opened minded about his skincare regime.

Neutrogena Men Skin Clearing Shave Cream is oil-free and no foam formula.  Skin Clearing Shave Cream provides a close shave and helps give you clear, healthy-looking skin.   The glycerin and moisturisers form a protective barrier between your face and razor to minimise irritation and provide a great shave. 

The Shave cream is light but has a thick consistency.  Hubby trialled this product for two weeks and found his skin has become less irritated.  He found using the Skin Clearing Shave Cream made his razor glide smoothly over his face without over shaving the same area that usually causes irritation.  Shaving time was reduced and the end result better.  

His overall comment - I really like this product. I like the texture and thickness and the cream covers my face easily.  My skin doesn't feel dry, sensitive or sting.  I feel that I'm shaving closer without the blades irritating my skin.

Neutrogena Men Triple Protect Face Lotion Review

I like the new gen men who take care of their skin and look good. They don't need to use their girlfriends products, they are proud to buy their own.

My man isn't new gen, he is more old school mixed with modern.  The only moisturiser that goes on his face is when I apply it, until he tried Neutrogena Men Triple Protect Face Lotion SPF 15.  It's perfect for guys with sensitive skin.  Hubby trialled the lotion for two weeks and the result, well, are quite pleasing.

Prone to redness and unsightly bumps around the chin and neck area.  Shaving has always been a pet hate for the hubby.  If it wasn't for my constant nagging when he kisses me he would have a beard as long as George St.

This non-greasy lotion offers multiple advanced skincare benefits to help protect your face. It moisturizes and heals dryness to condition skin. The lightweight formula contains SPF 15 sunscreen to help fight the signs of aging by reducing the appearance of lines and rought texture for smoother, healthier looking skin.

The crisp citrusy smell is subtle and pleasant. The lotion instantly absorbs into the skin without leaving any greasy residue.  Skin feels instantly soft and smooth after applying especially after shaving.  Hubby was very impressed how the lotion soothed his skin almost immediately after applying it.  Skin hasn't been irritated since using the lotion after shaving with Neutrogena Skin Clearing Shave Cream. The irritating lumps or redness no longer appear after shaving.  The condition of hubby's skin has improved, encouraging him to continue use.

It is very important for men to care for their skin just as much as women.  So for my hubby to say he really likes this product is a huge deal for me as I am passionate about skincare and taking care of my skin and I want him to look good as he ages.  Another great news for me is that he has increased his shaving from once a week to twice a week and moisturises almost everyday which is a huge improvement.

Gluten Free Expo 2013

The Gluten Free Expo is for all coeliacs and gluten intolerant peeps.  Of course if you are neither but follow a gluten free diet, this is the place to visit. With Coles being the principal sponsor, there were many exhibitors providing samples and products for purchase, a great opportunity to snap up new and existing products and great prices.

I attended the Gluten Free Expo as media and was part of an intimate group to hear about Coles new Gluten Free range.  Of course, being a biccie lover I had already discovered the Anzacs and Chocolate chip cookies, they are just divine.  

Dr Sue Shepherd, Advanced Accredited Practising Dietitian, who has been diagnosed with coeliac disease, passionately spoke about the difficulty in dealing with the disease and finding the right foods in shops.  Up until now gluten free products were mainly found in health food or speciality stores at inflated prices making it unaffordable for some people.

With extensive research, Coles has launched a new range called 'Simply Gluten Free' with 40 new products already on the shelves in Coles Supermarkets nationally, it will become the destination for shoppers who are gluten intolerant or suffering coeliac disease. The new range has been developed with a focus on convenience, taste and price.  The range includes pizza bases, pasta, cereals, cakes, breads, and snacks. The Simply Gluten Free range is available in stores now and is easily identifiable with its sunny yellow packaging. Products are located in the health food aisle, freezer and the bakery.

The Coles Simply Gluten Free range aims to offer delicious, convenient, quality products that don’t compromise on taste. Couple this with the fact that Coles have the Simply Gluten Free available at a great price, the gluten free diet can now be varied and affordable to all who need it – and friends and family who don’t!”

With such a large range of products covering all the basics Coles have really out done themselves by really knowing what a customer needs. With prices almost the same as regular products it makes it easier for consumers to afford these specialised products without burning a whole in your pocket.

Did you know that Coles had to go through extensive testing and assessment to get approval to use the name 'Anzac'  from Veteran Affairs?   With ingredients like quinoa and cornflakes, it is amazing that the taste is exactly like Anzac biscuits.

Sydney International Spa & Beauty Expo 2013

Where: Darling Harbor Exhibition Centre

The Sydney International Spa & Beauty Expo is the most anticipated beauty event of the year.  I have been counting down the days to attend.  I have never been to one before and I was over the moon when I received my media pass to explore, play and experience.

There were over 260 exhibitors with several zones to chill out - Medi Spa,Wellness, new Business and Meet the expert zones. Since my sense of direction couldn't save me even in a two door room, I had to place my bearings and try to see the whole expo from one end to the other.  Obviously this did not happen, I kept going off track as I saw favourite brands in all directions and before I knew it I was way off track.

Every exhibitor had the latest products, treatments, ideas and equipments. Demonstrations took place at every corner including knowledge games, prize giveaways, lucky draws and plenty samples to take away to try.  The best of all is that I was able to purchase many loved products and new brands that I have never heard of or tried before. 

I purchased a few OPI packs for birthday gifts for girlfriends. Bought several of the Ruby Wing colour changing nail polish for nieces and I purchased Scars and Stripes from Beaute Pacifique, apparently a miracle cream to fade away scars and reduce aggravation on scar tissue so I'm very excited to try this one.

It was all overwhelming that I realised I had been wondering, talking, listening and testing for 4 hours and I had not started buying yet.  So I set myself around again attempting to find the exhibitors that I was after.

My favourite stalls were Morgan Taylor, Ruby Wing, OPI (do you see a pattern?), You by Sia, Dermaquest, Beauty Pacifique, Synergy of Solutions, 3D skintech and many others.

Medical Formulations stall was a beauty.  There were these freaky looking 'Halloween Jason-like' masks, with blue and red lights staring at me.  A new technology from Italy would give omnilux a run for it's money.  With less time on the face and a better result, even I would brave this mask.

I had such an enjoyable day that I was sad to leave.  I did not feel I experienced everything, there was so much I wanted to do but have no idea how big this expo was.  I will be fully prepared for next year and can't wait to attend at its new venue on Glebe Island Peninsula.  Dates are already in my diary!
