Bloggers Brunch Sydney 2013

The Bloggers Brunch was organised and hosted by Kids Business. I attended my first one last year and had so much fun meeting new bloggers and connecting with brands I was really looking forward in doing it again.

This year the following brands were Kmart, Mamee, Brauer, Medela, Choosi, Optus and Naty.

A great feature of the event was the babysitting services offered by 'Dial an Angel'. They had a creche for the little ones whilst the mums explored the event. Dial an Angel services include childcare, babysitting & nannies as well as housekeeping, In-house nursing, disability and aged care.  All staff are qualified in the areas they work in.

There were several guest speakers telling their inspiring stories. Ingrid Poulson, author and inspirational speaker spoke briefly about RISE living – Resilience, Integrity, Simplicity, Enjoyment. Jane Copeland from Coping with Jane.  Tracie Walker from Kmart and Elizabeth Montgomery from Fitted For Work.

The first exhibitor I visited was Kmart. We were given a sneak preview of the extended Living range, launching in Kmart stores across the nation in August. Kmart designers were on hand and talked through key trends, provided some tips on home update dilemmas and gave insight in to how Kmart celebrates the diversity of Australian styles in their ranges.

Unbelieveable prices

A supplier of healthy and gluten free snacks for kids and adults. They had a range of new snacks for taste testing for toddlers and adults that will be launching soon. These treats were so yummy I kept going back for more!  Their range is naturally low in salt and fat.

Goodies to enjoy with the fam
We learn something everyday, I wasn't aware that Choosi wasn’t an insurer. They work with several insurance companies to make their policies available to their customers. Just compare, choose and apply for insurance online and over the phone. They have no direct fees or charges, which means the price customers pay for products directly arranged by Choosi is the same as the standard rates they would pay if they went directly to the insurer.

I was super excited to meet and learn more from Brauer’s range of natural products. My favourite exhibitor.  Their range consists of the natural Paw Paw range, new natural Baby Bath & Skin Care products containing Paw Paw, Honey & Shea Butter and natural medicinal exilirs.

Divine scented bubble bath for the kiddies

I couldn't wait to take my goodies home and test them out.  Check back soon as I will be reviewing these products.

A truly amazing brand.  I came across Medela breast pump at Toys R Us.  I was very emotional and almost about to give up breast feeding after attempting for 4 weeks of trying.  I was told that it was one of the best brands on the market so I bought one and never looked back.  They're discreet, quiet, and painless.  After 8 weeks my son finally decided to latch on and I was able to breastfeed my son. Without the Medela breast pump I would of given up trying.

Even though my son is now six, this gift I received has gone to a lovely friend of mine who has recently had a baby.

Naty provides eco-friendly baby care products.  Their range includes nappies, clothes, wipes, toys and toiletries.  Naty's nappies are 100% totally chlorine free pulp. Based on biodegradable materials. Has no perfume and are available in sizes 1-6. Their unsented wipes are also 100% biodegradable, containes aloe vera, is 100% chlorine free, hyoallergenic and all packaging is based on natural and renewable materials.

They had a small table to promote their latest look and answer any questions bloggers may have.  I walked away with a double pass to watch a movie.  Just what I needed!

Another great day, exhausting but fun.  I can't wait to attend the next one.

Kiehl's Store Opening QVB

WHEN: 22th July 06.45pm
WHERE: Kiehl's Boutique, QVB Sydney

Last Wednesday night I attended the grand opening and celebration of a Kiehl’s boutique in Sydney’s iconic Queen Victoria Building. This is the second stand alone boutique that has opened in Sydney with the first being in Chatswood.

The launch started with an opening statement about the brand and a special announcement of a new charity partnership with National Adoption founder, Deborra Lee Furness.

In November 2013, as part of our Adoption Awareness partnership, Kiehl’s will release a Limited Edition Ultra Facial Cream (their No.1 customer favourite product, selling 1 jar every 14 seconds around the world), which will be specially designed by children in the adoption community of Australia to help raise awareness of all the issues surrounding vulnerable and abandoned children and adoption. Proceeds from the sales of the Limited Edition Ultra Facial Cream will go towards raising funds to support the advocacy and development of resources to serve these children and their families.

VIP guests were treated to entertainment from DJ GothenBros and delicious NYC style canapés.

We were invited to get creative and draw our own families on tubs of Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cream.  Here is my "very creative" picture.  I am normally a creative person but I must of left it at home that evening, my mind was completely blank of ideas!

Once we finished, packaging and ribbon was available to make it pretty.

Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair Synchronized Recovery Complex II Review

Estee Lauder's powerful new ChronoluxCB™ Technology combines cellular purification and synchronization to help support skin’s natural improvement from the look of damage from every major assault—UV light, smoke and pollution. It also contains high levels of Hyaluronic Acid to moisturise the skin and antioxidants to combat free radicals and works together to create the ideal environment for skin’s natural repair and protection.

I purchased the new Advanced Night Repair Synchronised Recovery Complex and used it every night for 3 weeks after I had cleansed & toned my face & neck.

The glass dropper dispenses the exact amount I need. I used 3 drops for my face, neck and decolletage.

The serum was very smooth and glided easily over my skin which absorbed almost immediately leaving no residue what so ever. I applied my night moisturiser and it did not affect the texture or the moisturiser and it felt like my moisturiser absorbed better.

The serum is lightly scented, rich and luxurious yet thin & light weight lotion consistency allowing to blend easily and smoothly.

After a week I noticed my complexion was a lot more even especially around my forehead and cheeks. I even found it reduced the redness on my cheeks.

After using Advanced Night Repair Synchronized Recovery Complex for three weeks, my skin's complexion has changed dramatically. It feels firmer, smoother and more refreshed.

I highly recommend this serum to be added to anyone's beauty regime.

Harris Coffee Masterclass and giveaway

I was invited to a Harris Coffee Masterclass which was held in a private residence in Darling Point overlooking the Sydney harbour, a million dollar view (envy). Before entering I couldn't pull myself away from the beauty of the harbour but I knew a cup of coffee was waiting for me and that was enough to get me on my way.

Before commencing the masterclass there were treats a plenty on a huge table offering yummy macaron's, muffins, sandwiches and quiches to name a few, oh and of course COFFEE!  It was so hard not to have a cup in the morning when I woke up as it's my morning ritual but I knew I will be inhaling, sipping and overdosing on it later in the day.

Special guest Ada Nicodemou, Harris's ambassador, as well as Wayne Archer, Master Blender, who has been roasting and blending beans for Harris for 37 years and Daniel Vergnano, Coffee Specialist and Trainer were all here to give us the lowdown on coffee.

The blends that we taste tested
The coffee bench

We gathered around in the kitchen and listened to the history, stories and facts about coffee as well as tasting different blends.  The masterclass ended all too soon with so much caffeine running through my veins I started to get the shakes and I couldn't even upload images to instragram.  You see we were supposed to spit the tastings out in a bucket but it was so delicious I swallowed it all!

The event ended with a high, I met some amazing bloggers, walked away with enough coffee to keep me happy and with a wealth of knowledge, what more could a coffee lover ask for.

Before I end my post, Harris is turning 130 years young and we have an amazing giveaway for one lucky reader. The prize pack will include:

What's New for Clinique in August

Even Better Eyes

Clinique has extended their Even Better Collection with a new Even Better Eyes Dark Circle Corrector.

Dark circles are a top concern, regardless of age and ethnicity. Many factors can lead to dark circles, including fatigue, stress, age, dehydration, poor circulation, inflammation, and heredity traits.

This tinted, lightweight, eye cream helps disguise dark circles with its combination of three cosmetic pigments: titanium dioxide, mica, and iron oxides. The titanium dioxide provides a brightening effect, the mica adds shine to help reflect light away from shadowed areas, and the iron oxides are used to give this product its light flesh-toned colour.

How it works
Long term benefits in treating dark circles with key ingredients - Vitamin C and Mulberry root, both work together to help minimise the appearance of darkness.

Protection against irritation and environmental damage with anti-irritant ingredients - Caffeine and Green Tea Extract help soothe and calm irritation from environmental elements.

This product is fragrance-free product is and suitable for all skin types.

Available at all Clinique counters from August 26th - RRP $50

Neutrogena Naturals Review

Purifying Facial Cleanser
Made from 84% of naturally derived ingredients, containing Peruvian tara seed bio-nutrients, vitamins A, B and E and complex sugars which leave the skin soft, this cleanser will clean skin and remove make-up in one step, without stripping the skin of its natural moisture.

Pumping the right amount of product, it lathers nicely and rinses clean, leaving the skin feeling soft and smooth. The mild scent is pleasant and the consistency of the product is nice too.

There was no problem removing smudge proof mascara washing around my eyes.  No irritation or makeup residue so overall a pretty good product. Two products in one at $14.99 it is definitely a steal.

Face & Body Bar

Containig 99% of naturally derived ingredients. Bio-nutrient omega fatty acids, from avocado and olive oils gently cleanse and condition the skin.

Not sure what to make of a bar that is suitable for face and body but curious enough to give it a go. Surprisingly gently enough for the face without an over drying effect yet effective enough for the body. This is clearly a smart bar, with its natrual subtle scent and multi-task feature this is an obvious winner of a product. What's even great that it holds up well in the shower without it wittling away when in contact with water in the soap tray. RRP $4.99 a great price for a two in one product.

Neutrogena Naturals are available at Priceline, Coles, Woolworths and other selected retailers.

Products were kindly provided by Platinum MC for reivew.

Spectrim Contour+ Review

The Spectrim Contour+ is the first Australian-designed machine that sculpts and shapes the body by reducing fat and smoothing out cellulite. It smooths out fine lines and wrinkles by combining a range of technologies including infrared light, bipolar radio frequency and vacuum/massage.

The Science behind Contour+ Technology: Through the synergistic use of energy, the Contour+ employs four technologies including infrared, bipolar RF, vacuum and massage rollers:
  • Infrared light (IR) heats the tissue up to 5mm depth.
  • Bi-polar radio frequency (RF) heats tissue from 2 to 20mm depth.
  • Vacuum + Massage rollers accelerates blood circulation and increases blood flow to drain excessive water and body waste.
  • Biological impact of the treatment: increase metabolism, leading to desired anabolic and catabolic reaction at predetermined skin depths.

I was so curious about this non-invasive treatment that I decided to book myself in and give it a go. The spectrim Contour+ is used for the body and face. I opted for the face.

The treatment was taking place in non other 'Your Sanctuary Day Spa' in Paddington. This beautiful cottage is situated on the corner of Oxford St & Moore Park Rd. The staff were warm and friendly and made sure I was comfortable from the time I walked in until the time I walked out.  Before commencing treatment I filled out a questionnaire about my health and then taken to my cosy room.

Beautiful treatment rooms

A handheld device (as shown in the picture) is used on the body ie. belly or thighs.  The one used on my face was much smaller.

Treatment took about a hour beginning with a cleanse.  The Spectrim Contour+ was used to massage my skin in an upward direction.  When the treatment was over, a face mask was then applied to further hydrate the skin.

The sensation? It felt like a relaxing massage slightly pulling of the skin, I couldn't believe that the hour had gone by so quick, I almost dozed off several times. There was no pain, my skin had little or no pinkness.

Results were seen immediately.  My skin was glowing and plump, I looked fresh and firmer and the sunken eyes had almost completely disappeared.  Obviously, like any non-invasive treatment one is never enough.  For long lasting results you need to have at least 6-10 treatments to receive the full benefits that could last years.

There is no doubt that the market for slimming, cellulite reduction and facial rejuvenation is on the increase and finding a system that is both safe to use and that actually works is not easy.  We are always looking for ways to look better and younger without the need for surgery.  So when a machine like this comes along that actually shows results immediately, it can be quite promising for us ladies out there.

Here are a list of functions and benefits we can get from the Spectrim Contour+ machine

• Body slimming & shaping
• Cellulite reduction
• Skin Tightening
• Wrinkle Removal
• Eyelid area treatment
• Warm Massage
• Visible results in as few as 1 treatment session

Clinique 'Service As You Like It Counter' Launch

WHEN: 07th July 09.30am
WHERE: Clinique Counter, Myer Sydney

Clinique are launching “Service as you like it” counters in Australia with its first already available in Myer Sydney. With the widespread use of the internet, more and more consumers have become more product aware with many of them no longer buying their products in store.

Clinique reinvents the beauty shopping experience by offering customers multiple levels of service along with new, engaging ways to shop for beauty products. Breaking down all barriers, the flow and design invite customers to engage and interact in a creative and welcoming in-store environment. Clinique has developed these counters for the convenience of all their shoppers.

The first Clinique Apple iPad Skin Diagnostic Tool was piloted in the US in early 2011 and will now be launching into eight leading Clinique counters in July this year.

There are several beauty workstations featuring perfectly organised sections set-up with skincare, make-up, and foundation stations, with different interactive options also available.

I was given a personalised tour of each station. This beauty haven utilises modern design and technology to provide an innovative way to engage shoppers to a whole new experience encouraging customers to experiment, play and test products at their leisure.

After the tour I experienced the Clinique Apple iPad Skin Diagnostic Tool. What was really impressive was the ability to select a language I wanted my questions to be in and the how simple it was to use by selecting my skin concerns and then receiving a personalised skin care suggestions addressing each issue. I had a choice to print off my skincare suggestion or have it emailed to me.

Around each station there were these really funky retro type chairs, in bright colours giving the appearance of a fun place to be. I was seated at the make-up station and had my make-up done by one of the Clinique consultants.

I walked away with a sketch of colours that were used so I can remember what I was wearing which is way better than writing them on a card and then forgetting what they looked liked.

It is refreshing to actually enjoy experimenting without feeling awkward touching the products, definitely a good reason to entice customers back in store away from their online shopping. I will definitely be back to experiment further at each workstation.

The new iPad Skin Diagnosis Tool will be available at the following stores;

Myer Sydney
Myer Chatswood
Myer Bondi Junction
Myer Melbourne
Myer Chadstone
David Jones Elizabeth St
David Jones Queens Plaza

Pitango Organic Soup Review

Being in the middle of winter we are only half way through this icy wintry season and it's still getting colder each day. Its definitely too cold to cook! Rugged up in jumpers and scarves who can cook with layers on and I will not take them off. The thing is I have to cook nutritious meals as I have a family to feed so those peanut butter sandwiches for dinner are a no no.

Well, the heavens opened up for me with pity and handed me a delicious ready made soup in a bag. I like making my own soups.  From experience the ready made soups I've tried in the past were not so great some with freeze dried veges floating around so when I tried Pitango brand of soup I was super excited and surprised how delicious and fresh their soups tasted.

Without saying I word I prepared dinner and table.  My son and hubby ate the soup with garlic bread with no questions whether I cooked it or bought it. So there you have it. When we had all finished our dinner he complimented on my cooking and wanted to know what inspired me to create something different.

I pulled out the bag and showed my hubby the soup.  He was equally surprised as me at the quality of the soup especially that it had generous chunks of vegetables and quinoa.

While its naturally gluten-free, this vegetarian combination of tomato, sweet potato, potato, carrot, celery, onion, broccoli, peppers, garlic and of course, quinoa this delicious nutritious meal could easily be eaten on a daily basis.  (I could have bikini body in no time, ready for the warmer days).

I love the packaging, its easy to store in the fridge and easy to open and heat for a meal, ready in less than 10 minutes (including table preparation).

We are hooked on Pitango soups.  These can be found in the chiller section of Coles and Woolworths.  Prices are between $7.00 - $8.00 a bag. A super cheap meal for the family.

I was in Coles tonight to find out more about these soups and only found 4 other flavours, there are 17 varieties in the range.  I will have to hunt them down at a larger supermarket and try them all out.

To find out more about the Pitango range go to their website here.

My overall rating - 5/5
